Current Production Volunteer Opportunities

7/31/24

Carrollwood Players Theatre needs you! Your community theatre is busy and we currently need to fill the following production volunteer opportunities:

Help us Build and/or Paint the set for Annie!

We are looking for extra volunteers who are handy with general building to help on our set build day for Annie, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 17th from 10 a.m. until approximately 2 p.m.

  • Help us take down platforms from the previous show.
  • Help us put up wall flats for Annie.
  • Help us hang and position curtains.
  • Help us move heavy things around.
  • General or advanced skills working with a power drill and other tools helpful.
  • Having your own power drill or tools for your use is helpful.
  • We provide morning snacks and lunch!

If you are not available on this date, but would like to help with other builds, please let us know!

We are also looking for general painters and artistic/scenic painters to help on our set paint/set dress day for Annie, which is scheduled for Saturday, August 24th from 10 a.m. until approximately 2 p.m.

  • Help us paint a large 1930s New York City skyline
  • Help us paint various scenic panels on rotating set units (the orphanage, the mansion, skid row, the White House, etc.)
  • We are specifically looking for talented artists who can transform a plain wall into a scene!
  • Help with general painting and other set dressing tasks will also be needed.
  • We provide morning snacks and lunch!
  • If you are available to work on scenic painting on weekdays in mid to late August, let us know!

If you are not available on this date, but would like to help with scenic painting for other productions, please let us know!

Help us with Costumes for Annie!

We are looking for an experienced volunteer lead costumer for our production of Annie, and/or a team of volunteer costume helpers and sewers.

  • Take measurements of cast members.
  • Work with director to develop and realize vision for costumes.
  • Source costumes from CWP costume stock and other inexpensive sources.
  • Visit rehearsals to conduct fittings with cast members.
  • Sewing and building some costume pieces, alterations, etc.
  • Working with cast members to incorporate some of their own attire into costumes.
  • Accomplishing overall costuming for the production within a tight budget.

Sound Operator for Annie!

We are looking for a volunteer with lots of free time in the evenings between now and the end of September to be our dedicated sound operator for Annie.

We are using tracks for this production and need someone to operate them at weeknight rehearsals starting as soon as possible, continuing on into tech week and also for all performances.

Our music tracks are operated by an easy-to-use app on an iPad that we provide. We will train you!

Weeknight rehearsals are most Mondays – Thursdays from 7 pm until 10 pm. Tech week rehearsals are Sunday night through Thursday night. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays with a call time of 6:30 pm and Sundays with a call time of 12:30 pm and one special Saturday matinee on September 14th with a call time of 12:30 p.m. (this is a two show day)

Operating music tracks for a live musical is fun – you are the orchestra!

Backstage Helpers/Dressers for Baskerville!

Baskerville is a hilarious Sherlock Holmes spoof in which a very small group of actors portray a very large number of characters. To accomplish many quick costume changes, we will need several backstage helpers/dressers. We may also need some help with running projections and sound for this production that opens in mid-October.

Please email our Managing Director, Jim Russell, at jim.russell@carrollwoodplayers.org for more information or to help with any of the opportunities above!
