Overview of our Board History/Culture:

In 2018, Carrollwood Players began a transition from an operational board (handling the day-to-day operational needs of our organization) to a governance board (focusing on high level strategic planning, fundraising, financial oversight, policy, mission development and more.)

We now have a full-time Managing Director and a part-time Manager of Finance who handle most of our day-to-day operations, and hope to add additional professional staff as we continue to grow.

As we approach the realization of this gradual transition, we have built a small board comprised of individuals with expertise in fundraising, financial planning, public relations, legal matters, and other professional skills needed by a busy, growing nonprofit.

We currently seek additional members to help us continue to build a board with a rich diversity of backgrounds, perspectives, skills, and experiences inside and outside of the arts.

Board responsibilities include:

  • Supporting the fundraising and development efforts of Carrollwood Players.

  • Serving as an ambassador in the community for Carrollwood Players and helping us build a a theatre community that represents every community.

  • Development of high level strategic planning for the long term sustainability of the Carrollwood Players mission and vision.

  • Leveraging professional expertise and experience to advise Carrollwood Players on policy and practices.

  • Attending and participating in meetings of the Carrollwood Players Board of Trustees (held every other month)

We seek a diverse group of passionate, community-minded innovators who would enjoy playing an important role in shaping the future of an organization dedicated to keeping the arts accessible to everyone in our community.

We specifically encourage people of color and all ethnic and cultural backgrounds to apply. We are committed to broadening our diversity at all levels – leadership, volunteers, and audiences.

We welcome adult applicants of all backgrounds regardless of race, color, sex, religion, political affiliation, national or social origin, disability, age, marital or family status, sexual orientation, gender identity, health status, or economic or social situation.

  • Retired professionals with a lifetime of experience to share.

  • Professionals who want to give back to the community while expanding their network and broadening their leadership experience.

  • Anyone with a passion for the arts and a talent for championing a great cause.

  • Well-connected community influencers with fundraising experience.

We welcome anyone with a desire to help Tampa’s longest-operating community theatre reach for the stars!

We meet via Zoom or at Carrollwood Players – generally every other month.

The time commitment is from 4-10 hours per month.
